Once again James, an able horse astrologer and a winning client of “Your Lucky Times”TM, brings his sharp perceptions to give us All the Angles for this year’s Preakness at Pimlico!
Setting the Scene
At 6:40 PM, on Saturday the 19th May 2018, is the running of the Preakness Stakes, race #13 at Pimlico Race Track in Baltimore Maryland. A chart for the time and place of the race shows an 11-degree Scorpio ascendant and a 19-degree Leo midheaven.
The interesting aspect in the chart for this race is the T-square formed by Mars, Uranus and the Moon at 0-1 degrees of Aquarius, Taurus, and Leo, respectively. We will see how these hard angles might provide Winning Power to one competitor or another.
A Look Back
Looking back at the Kentucky Derby, no long shot came in, and there was no Uranus’ upset — which was to be to be expected, as there was not much Uranian influence for the day.
There was a lot of Capricorn influence, with the Moon, Pluto, Mars, and Saturn all lodging in Capricorn. Bob Baffert being the only Capricorn trainer of the group (January 13th, 1953) and the trainer of Justify, plus Justify having the Mars sextile Mercury aspect for the day, well that was enough for a great horse like Justify to win.
A lot has changed since the Kentucky Derby. Uranus has left Aries and has moved into the sign of Taurus; Mars is no longer in Capricorn and has entered Aquarius. This could be enough to have a totally different outcome of the race. Hopefully upset things a little. With the T-square consisting of Mars, Uranus, and the Moon, an upset is what this chart may be portending.
Can we justify Justify?
The weather forecast for race day projects another miserable, wet and rainy day. Looking back at the Kentucky Derby, we can remember just how well Justify did in such conditions.
This time around, with only 7 other competitors in the race instead of the 19 in the Kentucky Derby, we could expect an easy win for the favorite. He is a great horse and will certainly be an even money favorite. Justify may well win, and on paper, he is certainly the horse to beat.
Better Odds = Smart Bets
Here is why I am not going to bet Justify and why I will bet Lone Sailor and Quip:
The main reason I am not betting Justify is because Mike Smith, birthday Aug 10, 1965 (the jockey for Justify) is born with a Pluto-Saturn opposition at 15-degrees of Virgo to Pisces. The Mars, Uranus, and Moon T-square makes a nasty semi-square aspect to this aspect. Sorry, Mike, this might not be the best day for you to ride horses.
The horse that stands out to me the most is Lone Sailor. The moon will be in an exact trine to his natal Mercury, and the transiting Sun will sextile his Mercury as well.
Uranus is in orb to a conjunction with his Mars. Just an all-around very energetic day for Lone Sailor!
The other horse I like is Quip, born Feb 19, 2015. He is one of the three Pisces running (remember, a wet track). The other two are Good Magic, who had a great run in the Kentucky Derby, and Sporting Chance.
Quip just has a lot going on, and the fact that he is a new entrant could help his chances because he will be well rested. Quip has Uranus sextile Sun, Moon trine Mars, Sun sextile Mars, Venus trine Sun — and the list goes on. Wow!
So, finally, I’ll take Lone Sailor for the win, place, and show, and maybe a little on Quip too. Good luck!
