The New Year begins with a lot of shifts and changes underfoot. Venus has moved into Sagittarius, which is the Supremely Lucky Sign, since it is "ruled" by Jupiter. We want generosity, truth, justice, amicable international relations, religious freedom, and higher education. However, since Saturn, the Lord of Reality is already there, our desire nature always will sound a serious note while she sojourns Sagittarius, until January 24th. There will be more about Saturn below.
Mars has moved into Scorpio, as of January 3rd. The planet of Energy and Action — the male principle — will transit this Money Sign until March — so Mars may activate Luck for many during the coming months. Of course, as with any such transit, this generality all depends on "Your Lucky Times" whether or not it means Good Fortune for you. You need to have your personal Report done to find out.
Mercury, our usually zippy Communicator, moved into Aquarius as of January 1st. And here is where the "friction" may be begin, for he has slowed down tremendously and will start to go Retrograde (appearing to go backward in the sky) on January 5th. He will retrograde back into Capricorn on January 8th, and will not start to move forward again until January 25th.
If this were not bad enough, Jupiter is also slowing down and decides to go retrograde on January 8th. With these key retrogrades and planetary movements, it may feel that there is quicksand underneath our feet!
If you are returning to work or school on January 4th, as many are, after the two-week holiday period, you may find a lot of changes in administration and position going on in January. So Be Prepared!
Mercury Retrograde is not a good time to make new contracts and other deals, or to buy new computers or other electronics. Communications and the world of the Internet and computers will be on a firmer footing by mid February, and with this Knowledge of Astrology, we can plan accordingly.
But that is not what this forecast is about. With change comes Opportunity, and we want to find out when they may occur.
In the past few years, the dominating aspect in the sky has been the square of Uranus in Aries with Pluto in Capricorn. Uranus is brings about Sudden Change, and is highly unpredictable, while Pluto also transforms, but on a slower, profound basis. The squares between Uranus and Pluto brought us phenomena such as the Great Recession, Arab Spring, the many earthquakes, hurricanes, and tsunamis; the debt and currency concerns of the major economic powers, and other governmental and budgetary issues.
The Uranus-Pluto squares unerringly predicted Mega Millions and Powerball lottery jackpot wins, when they occurred on Tuesdays, Wednesdays, Fridays, or Saturdays. But we no longer have such jarring displays of potential winning luck in the skies right now.
The transit which currently is dominating the heavens is the square between Saturn in Sagittarius and Neptune in Pisces. Since Neptune "rules" commodities such as oil, I believe that it is this aspect which has caused the precipitous decline in oil prices — and with it, the less than spectacular action in the U.S. stock market. Of course, the presence of Saturn in Sagittarius may have made this worse, by enhancing international and religious issues such as the Refugee Crisis and the continuing episodes of religious-politically based terrorism.
The Saturn-Neptune-square issues may become acute when Saturn exactly squares Neptune on June 17th and September 10th, and may not start to abate until Saturn moves into Capricorn in December of 2017. Of course, then this Lord of Karma will begin to move to conjoin Deep Pluto and exhibit other problems — but let us save this discussion for a couple of years down the road.
The effects of the Saturn-Neptune-square may be ameliorated somewhat by the trine (harmonious 120-degree angle) of Saturn in Sagittarius to Surprising Uranus in Aries. The aspect will be exact on December 24th and may signal a "Supremely Lucky Time" for many. Merry Christmas, if Christianity is your religious preference!
We have to look at the "other side of the coin" when we discuss Saturn-Neptune, because all "difficult" aspects may have advantages too. The fact that we are enjoying historically low prices at the gas pump, for example, is quite beneficial to those for whom gasoline makes up a large part of their family budgets. Heating oil prices are lower too, and lower energy prices are benefiting the operation of most businesses across the board. Stock market speculators who have been short energy stocks may have made a bundle too.
All of this means that we could be consuming more carbon products over the coming two years, and has the potential of making the Climate Change Crisis worse. We need to be extremely vigilant about this issue, since it could affect the Course of All Humankind.
On the whole, Saturn in Sagittarius may be a kind of depressing time for Americans. While the U.S. is a Cancer, with a July 4th birthday, I believe that Sagittarius is its Rising Sign, because of the innate optimism and generosity it presents to the world. But Saturn in Sagittarius is glum and rather contrary to the impulses of Sagittarius's "leader" Jupiter. Saturn wants us to work, when we would rather play, and don't forget that the Stock Market Crash of Black Monday, October 19th, 1987, happened when Saturn was in Sagittarius.
Neptune in Pisces has also indicated prominent problems with infectious diseases, and the primary example has been the Ebola epidemic the world has to deal with the last couple of years. Public health is another area where the utmost caution and vigilance must be maintained. He is also the major culprit for flooding and other examples of water where we don't want it. We need to insure ourselves against this where we can, and otherwise just generally cope with the situation.
On the other hand, Jupiter, the Great Benefactor, is transiting Virgo, the Sign of Health and Service, so he may have been helping us to resolve these problems of transmittable diseases. However, we have to realize that Jupiter will square Saturn in Sagittarius this year, with the aspect becoming exact on March 23rd and May 26th. Luckily, the opposition of Jupiter in Virgo and Neptune in Pisces is over, and again, as with many such potentially negative aspects, the Jupiter-Saturn squares may be "Supremely Lucky Times" for some (depending, of course, on how the transits are impacting their individual charts).
What about the slowdown on Jupiter in Virgo? As I mentioned earlier, Jupiter will turn around and start to go retrograde on January 8th (appear to go backward in the sky). While it is there, it has been helpful to many in terms of health, service, work, and career.
Jupiter retrograde usually means a reduction in its benefits. It is retrograde until May 9th. However, Jupiter is so benign that even when it is somewhat debilitated by a retrograde, things still May Be Quite Jolly!
Jupiter may amend the effects of Pluto in Capricorn with a couple of trines (harmonious 120-degree links). They are on March 16th and June 26th. And these dates may be Quite Lucky!
Jupiter goes into Libra in September, but before he does, he makes a sharp aspect with Shocking Uranus in Aries, on August 13th! This should also be a Lucky Date!!
Of course, while in Libra, Jupiter opposes Revolutionary Uranus, which could bring out some Shocking Luck! The date to look for in 2016 is December 26th — a bookend to Christmas Day with the Saturn-Uranus trine on the 24th.
The other, pretty surefire Lucky Days to mark are the Eclipses. The dates to watch are March 8th, March 23rd, August 8th, September 1st, and September 16th. (There are five this year, instead of the usual four, for an Extra Fillip of Luck!)
That about wraps up the Luck Outlook for 2016.
